Upload a video
Add a match, and what happens after you press Upload.
Add a match
- On the Home page, drop your video on the box, or click it to choose a file.
- Check the title. You can change it later.
- Leave Find rallies automatically ticked, unless your video was not filmed from one fixed spot.
- Press Upload video.
The match opens, and OrcaEye asks about the scoreboard, the players and the scoring while the video uploads.
What gets uploaded
OrcaEye uploads a smaller 720p copy of your video, about 1.2 GB per hour. We use it to find the rallies, and it lets you edit from any laptop.
Your original file never leaves your computer. Keep it: your full-quality export is made from it.
HDR videos are converted to standard colours for the copy and the export. You don't need to do anything.
A match in several files
Drop all the files together, or press Add another part of this match before you press Upload video. They play end to end as one match. Drag them to change the order.
You can't add a file to a match after it's made. If you forgot one, delete the match and start again. The hours only come back if the video wasn't analysed yet.
Can I close the page?
Not until the upload is done. You'll see "Your video is uploaded", and then you can close it. You can use the rest of the app in the meantime.
If the page closes before that:
- While your computer is still preparing the video, the upload starts again from 0.
- Once it's only sending, the upload carries on from where it stopped when you open the match again.
After the upload, you can close it. Finding the rallies happens on our servers. We email you when it's done. You can turn this email off in Settings.
How long does it take?
A 90-minute match takes about an hour once it's uploaded. The match page shows the time left. Click it to see each step:
- Upload your video. This depends on your connection and your computer.
- Calibrate the court. Usually 2 to 5 minutes.
- Find the rallies. The first rallies appear while the rest are being found, so you can start reviewing.
- Ready to edit.
In the queue means our servers are busy. Your video starts on its own.
The stats and the export wait until every rally is found.
Stop an upload
Click the progress on the match page, then:
- Stop and discard the upload while it uploads. To try again, delete the match, which gives your hours back, and add the video as a new match.
- Stop finding rallies once it's uploaded. Your video is kept, and Try again starts it again.
