Film your match
Where to put the camera, and what kind of video works.
What OrcaEye needs
- One fixed camera. Use a tripod or a clamp. Don't hold it, and don't move it during the match.
- The whole court in the picture, from one end to the other.
- 720p or better, filmed horizontally.
A normal or wide lens is fine. An extreme fisheye isn't supported.
Where to put the camera
Behind the back glass, in the middle of the court, as high as you can. Film through the glass, not through a fence.
Before you start, check on the screen that you can see the whole court, including the far corners.
Before you press record
- Check the battery and the free storage. A match is long.
- On an iPhone, go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. Your video then plays in every browser. Otherwise, see Computer and browser.
If something goes wrong while filming
- The camera got bumped. OrcaEye finds the court again and carries on. It skips the time the camera was moving.
- The camera split the match into several files. Add them all to the same match. See Upload a video.
- You started filming mid-match. You can set the score at the start of the video. See Scoreboard and scoring.
Other kinds of video
Handheld video won't work for finding rallies automatically. A broadcast that cuts between cameras only works if one camera films the court for most of the match.
You can still use these videos: untick Find rallies automatically when you upload, and cut the rallies by hand.
