Computer and browser
What you need to use OrcaEye, and which browser works best.
OrcaEye runs in your browser, with nothing to install. Use a laptop or a desktop, with Chrome or Edge.
Your computer does part of the work: it prepares your video for upload and makes your exports. A recent computer does this faster.
Which browser?
| Chrome or Edge | Safari | Firefox | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Editing | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Exporting | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Getting your original file back after a reload | One click | Pick the file again | Pick the file again |
| HEVC (H.265) videos, which recent iPhones record | Yes on Mac and Windows, not on Linux | Yes on a Mac | No |
If your browser can't play your video, see the fix.
Private windows
Don't upload from a private (incognito) window. It keeps too little space on your computer for your video.
Disk space
While your video uploads, your browser keeps its 720p copy on your computer: about 1.2 GB per hour of video. Make sure you have that much free.
Phones and tablets
Use a laptop for now. The files are large and editing needs a big screen.
